With the MINI GALAXIS V horn loudspeaker, we at ORBID SOUND ^® continue our decades-long tradition of building speakers with a midrange horn for the home. The high-quality components and extensive features of this speaker define its own class.

The compression tweeter with its aluminum diaphragm and solid aluminum cabinet delivers a wide soundstage with its 140° dispersion pattern. This perfectly complements the impressive midrange horn, which delivers a broad but, above all, direct midrange sound into the room.

Four 6.5″ bass drivers provide the necessary punch, giving the MINI GALAXIS its legendary character in the bass range. The bass drivers are framed by hand-crafted decorative rings made of sandblasted aluminum. Stainless steel screws ensure a perfect interplay of materials and form the connection to the tweeter horn, which is also made of sandblasted aluminum.

Particular attention is paid to the connection area. This features our ORBID SOUND® ^terminal made of brushed stainless steel with high-quality pole terminals from Mundorf. These always ensure the perfect connection, whether screwing together speaker cables or using banana terminals, and once again demonstrate the quality of the MINI GALAXIS V horn speaker .

A matching base ensures the speaker is placed at the ideal angle for the listener. Naturally, our effective vibration dampers are already  incorporated into this base.

This is the history of the horn loudspeaker:

In the late 1970s, our brand founder was working on a concept with small bass speakers.

The idea: to use a combination of closely spaced small woofers to achieve the advantage of a large overall membrane surface while avoiding the disadvantage of the inertia of a large bass driver. In other words: greater dynamics, more punch.

This is how the first model of the  Mini Galaxy was created in 1978  with 8 small bass speakers and a triple, adjustable horn system – a loudspeaker that was as extraordinary as it was fascinating.

From that moment on, the model’s triumphant success was unstoppable. This speaker was as popular among music enthusiasts and musicians as it was with bar, club, and pub owners. The MINI GALAXIS represented a new concept – a high-power 4-way system – perfect for parties  as well as moderate home use. The fact that the MINI GALAXIS was not without controversy never hurt its success. To this day, there are  countless owners  and  enthusiasts of the loudspeakers, which were built in four different versions until 2015.

With the fifth version we continue the story of this extraordinary loudspeaker.
