The Monitor#Eins  horn loudspeaker is an exceptional speaker in every respect. A two-way horn system with a monitor character. Developed by the duo Spiecker & Martin, who have earned a solid reputation in the DIY scene as in-depth developers over many years. Originally intended as a kit, this speaker has also piqued the interest of music enthusiasts who are less familiar with soldering irons and circular saws.

So, the idea of ​​a finished model was added to the kit concept. This, in turn, led to a collaboration, resulting in the Monitor#Eins now being available to order as a finished speaker in various versions with various options.

The Monitor#Eins horn loudspeaker complements the Orbid Sound program in an interesting way, but more on that below.

With the Monitor#Eins horn loudspeaker, our MINI GALAXIS V gets a very different sibling. Anyone familiar with ORBID SOUND ^® knows that our loudspeakers deliver room-filling sound with high dynamics. Therefore, the Monitor#Eins is an interesting addition in a completely different direction. Designed and developed as a monitor loudspeaker, it combines the characteristics of a ‘sweet spot’ loudspeaker and delights the listener in its own unique way.

It is equipped with a high-quality horn driver from Celestion. Some readers may recall that Orbid Sound used Celestion back in the 1980s. Back then, the GALAXIS series was equipped with these horns. Starting with the MINI GALAXIS, a 4-way system with three horn drivers, through the legendary 6-way GALAXIS system, to the SUPER GALAXIS, the Celestion was an integral part of the system.

The horn itself is a handcrafted wooden horn that can be combined in four different ways. Veneers are available, from Indian Rosewood to Makassar and Wenge, as well as black. Naturally, the two bass reflex tubes installed on the front panel are also made of this veneer.

A 12″ PA chassis is used as the bass driver – this ensures sufficient pressure and even high volumes are no problem.

Regarding the crossover, we discussed a deviation from the specifications, as we are completely convinced by the components from Mundorf. And in comparison, the Mundorf-equipped Monitor#Eins is more open in terms of the soundstage and somewhat more dynamic or “airy” in terms of the overall sound.
